Welcome to the ACAT Web Site
ACAT is the acronym for the Hope College Academic Computing Advisory Team. ACAT's task is to assist the Provost and his Deans' Council in setting goals regarding the use of computing technology in furthering the academic program of the college. It is also charged with helping to implement such goals. To this end the team is comprised of faculty members, a representative from the Deans' Council, and staff from the Computing and Information Techology department (affectionately known as C.I.T.).

The 2006-2007 membership of ACAT is

  • Barry Bandstra (Religion Department), chairperson and director of academic computing
  • Susan Cherup (Education Department) representing the Social Sciences Division
  • Paul De Young (Physics Department) representing the Natural Sciences Division
  • Carl Heideman, director of C.I.T.
  • Jon Huisken (Registrar) representing the Deans' Council
  • Steve Nelson (Art Department) representing the Arts Division
  • William Pannapacker (English Department) representing the Humanities Division (on sabbatical leave Fall 2006)
  • Geoffrey Reynolds (Joint Archives director), institutional archives specialist
  • Brian Yost (Van Wylen Library), representing the Van Wylen Library

In addition to these official members of ACAT as appointed by the Status Committee, regular attenders to the meetings and vital members of the extended team are Jeff Pestun of C.I.T. and the Provost. All ACAT meetings are open to faculty and staff, and you are cordially invited to join us.

The ACAT Web Site is where agendas and minutes are posted, as well as computing news of interest to the campus community, including Midwest Instructional Technology Center newsletters.
